Arrival in China

China Bridge school partnership visit to China October 22-29 2016

Sunday October 23rd

I arrived in Shanghai on Sunday October 23rd exactly 24 hours after leaving the house! Tired, but excited for the week ahead. I was the first to arrive but the other teachers were not far behind just on a different flight.
After a bit of a wait for two teachers who were not even in the airport due to a mix up of flight times; from which they were the talk of the day, we set off for Suzhou. The transfer took approximately two hours to the hotel. Our hotel was fantastic; as grand as you can imagine.

As our rooms were being prepared, we were invited straight to lunch!  It was an absolute feast and really delicious. I loved the rotating glass centre table, or as I grew up calling it, "a lazy Suzy". This type of dining was a relatively new experience for me and it found it very social where you can try all kinds of delicacies, enjoy conversation and take small bits of food to taste- with chopsticks of course!

Following lunch, I checked into my room and set off to explore the area my way - running! Although I didn't run too far this time, it was quite an adventure nevertheless. I had an evening meal at the hotel organised by the education bureau of Suzhou and met all the other participants who arrived later that day. Early start was in store so roll on Monday!
